Scotty, you got any thoughts about rats camping out on car engines? In Arkansas, the problem is more likely to be squirrels, which apparently enjoy eating the soy-based wire insulation.

Supposedly rodents hate the smell of mint. I watched a guy use a spray bottle with water and a few drops of peppermint or mint oil you can find in the weirdo holistic or health supplements section of the grocery store. I tried it, however I found just putting a few drops full strength of the peppermint oil around the engine bay along the outer perimeter works and provides a seriously nice smell to us humans.
