Hey Scotty,

I need your help!

While changing the rear shocks absorbers on my 2015 Nissan Altima, one of the 2 upper mounting bolt got stripped. I couldn't find way to change it. What should I do?

cut it off and replace it

Do I need to weld it back?

replace the stripped bolt

OK so when it's captured like that it's called a stud, not a bolt.
That sucks. So, if you have access to the other side, cut and drill the stud out, and replace it with a bolt. No need to weld it but maybe use some loctite.

What is Elmo doing in your car ????

Ouch! So I'm thinking you mean that one of these 2 nuts got stripped on its bolt.

You're going to have to get access to the top of that bolt and probably have to drill the bolt head off to push the bolt through the bottom and then install a new bolt.

I'm thinking that you'll have to remove the rear deck behind the back seat and see if you can get to that bolt from there.

The audio guys remove that back deck to install upgraded speakers so maybe look for some youtubes to see how they do that.

The problem is there's no way from the top I am able to do something. Should I break it off from the bottom?

Well it has to come out. Are you thinking about grinding it flush and then drilling it out?
.
I'm wondering if that bolt head isn't welded on up there to keep it from spinning when you tighten the nut
.
That's going to be in the way

Can you stick a little inspection mirror up in there to see what you're dealing with?

there's no way from the top

ok I just read this. That changes things.

Install a clip-nut/u-nut/j-nut on the blind side, and thread a bolt from the bottom.

@Mountainmanjoe,
I was able to remove the stud from the bottom. However, it was welded and I put another stud without welding it. I tried the nut clip, but it made the shock uneven and vibrating.

what ... you put in a stud and a clip nut. I'm so lost. Maybe it's time to take it to a mechanic

I'm saying it needs to be sturdy while putting the nut back. That why it was welded from the top. Bolt clipper will make the shock uneven since I'm only fixing one stud.
