Recall

Hey Scotty. I really trust your good judgement. So I'll ask your opinion. I own a 2007 Ford Edge SEL, and I've been getting a notice for a few months now to have my vehicle taken in for a recall on the airbags. Theres supposed to be something in it that if you wreck can cause metal to shoot out of the bag deployment and could seriously injure or kill you. Are these recalls legit? Or is it just a ploy to try to get vehicles into dealerships for bait and switch tactics? I appreciate your time.

They are absolutely legitimate. Plus recall repairs would be billed to Ford and would be done at no cost to you. The dealership might try to upsell you while you are there but you can always decline.

You can also cross-check here to make sure your vehicle VIN is indeed part of the recall.

If it is, then I would take it in and get that addressed, and it should all be free.

Unfortunately your year vehicle is listed among a bunch of Ford vehicles effected by the TAKATA air bag recall. It's a safety issue so it's not just some ploy to get you into the dealership.... Check your vin here to see if it's part of the recall, I'd bet a doughnut that it is. .
