Hello, i need some constructive advice on how to resolve this code. About a month ago my friend and I replaced the timing belt, timing tensioner and idler, and the water pump. The check engine light has been on even prior to doing this repair because the previous owner said that they had the check engine light checked out and that it wasnt a big deal. However since i did the timing belt job I wanted to double check the codes and noticed the p0016 code. The car seems to be running ok, but I was wondering if maybe the cam and crank sensors are bad or what could be causing this code to come up. Any advice on how to fix this would be much appreciated as i want to fix this myself. Thanks again!

You did not mention the make and model of your car. If it a Toyota, since it drives ok, I would not worry about it.

Sorry about that, its a Kia spectra ex 2004. I wonder if the sensors need to be replaced. I need to replace some seals do ill buy one of those timing belt books that shows how yo align all the gears snd double check, if the gears look ok then ill just try replacing the cam and crank sensors

Let me know if this sounds like a good idea. I got this car for free and im wanting to become an auto mechanic so I figured this would a good car to learn on.

You got the car for free. Not a bad idea to try to fix it. Good luck mate.

Thank you!
