2006 Chevy impala ss 5.3 LS4. Reduced engine power, not the throttle body, sensor, or gas pedal. I noticed I have a loose negative battery cable. I have to check what code showed up but it said there was an open circuit detected by the ecu, does that mean the loose cable fried my computer or something? I’m completely lost. If I let the car sit for a couple weeks it’ll start up just fine like there never was an issue. Car runs great when it runs.
The car is 16 years old, could be almost anything. We need details of the code(s) involved.
I have been very busy lately, but I appreciate the effort of wanting to help more than I can express. I will add a comment of the code shortly
Car started right up now there’s no code or reduced power FOR NOW. I’ll have to try again later
I finally found the issue, a few wire connectors to the throttle body sensor were in the wrong place. It was a very cheap and easy fix the entire time that I somehow overpassed
Thanks for reporting back. Glad you got it fixed.
That usually mean low voltage detected ECU/PCM . It can also mean a failure of system if I remember correctly. Chances are it is the battery connection . Cars today are computerized and even the smallest voltage drop or poor connection can cause issues. Fix the connection issue and see what happens
The negative cable is tightened all the way but I can just pull it off by hand, does that mean I need a new cable from Walmart or something? Or is there something I can do to fix it
You can shim as stated. I would replace it this way I know it's done and will not have to worry about it coming loose again.

You can shim the battery post with copper tubing or a purpose-made post shim from an auto parts store.

I fixed the connection issue, drove it around for a few hours today. At the extra long red light it happened again and had to push my car out of the road. I turned the key to the accessories on position instead of start, I didn’t hear the fuel pump at all. I noticed as the engine sits in reduced engine power mode the engine gets hot, I read on google a bad fuel pump can overheat the engine. What does everybody think?
