Rough Idling

Hello,

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger 3.0 V6 with 199,013 miles. I recently bought an obd 2 scanner since the check engine light was on and the idling gets rough feels like it vibrates. Anyway I plug the scanner in and got PO136 code. My question is if I fix the O2 sensors since the scanner says one was bad will that fix my rough idling issue or is it something else possibly? Thanks

I would first get a new air filter and clean the MAF sensor and the throttle body with the correct CRC cleaners to see if that clears the problem.  If not, the 02 down stream sensor may have a burnt out heating element and needs to be replaced.  AutoZone part #15717 - $58.99, easy screw in and plug in job.

no such code. It's 'P' for powertrain and then 3 digits. There's never any oh's. You need to search for the right thing.

No, the scanner did not say that.

Oh yes. Definition of code P0136 is "O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage" which can be caused by a few things that you should check 1st. Did you make sure the sensor is plugged in?

Read carefully the causes and possible solutions here:

But yes, fixing this issue should be your 1st step to correcting the poor idle.
