Or ad a relay & wire it with it…

Ā

Start your Yaris. Reach down and disconnect the wire connector from your oil pressure sender.

Does the car stall?

Without doing any damage

Listen to the others and don’t do it.

Who knows what electronics may unintentionally get ruined, and then good luck trying to fix a potential ā€˜No start’ condition, in future.

generally the fuel pump is a popular choice.

If it’s a cellular / GPS device then it’s useless, all professionals use jammers.

The countermeasures that do make sense is figuring out how cars of your type get stolen (for example ECU swaps on Hyundai-Kias, OBD2 key programming on Mazda, etc.) and blocking access to that (like with a secondary hood lock, temporarily Ā disconnecting the port, etc.)

while the oil pump is disabled…

oil pumps cannot be disabled. They are mechanical, and integral to the engine.

I strongly advise you to leave this to a mechanic.

It's not at all safe to hack up the wiring in a modern car.

Why the down vote @yarus?Ā  Didn't the installation instructions for the kit you bought come with the device?

When all else fails, read the instructions.

I dont get it…
Is this a poem?

Anyone knows whats that?

Just guessing at it, there have been cars that have a cutoff to shut down the engine in the event that oil pressure is lost. It looks to me like the kill switch may be using the relay to disconnect the oil pressure sender in order to do this.

However, the last car that I know of that had that setup was the Chevrolet Vega. It would cut off the electric fuel pump if there was no oil pressure after startup or if the oil pressure sensor was bad. (Back then electric fuel pumps were new and most owners and mechanics didn't know about them. You used to be able to pick up a Vega for next to nothing because it "wouldn't run", change the oil pressure sensor, and drive it until its crappy aluminum engine gave out.)

In any event if I had to do this I'd probably have the remote kill gadget just cut off the fuel pump rather than messing around with the wiring for the oil pressure sensor.

That’s helpful
Thx ^^

Guess the right answer is:

Ā

its safe to wire it

Posted by: @jack62

The only reason that relay's Load Side terminals would be wired into the Oil Pressure sender/switch is if your Yaris had a Low Oil Pressure shutdown feature. It would not disable the oil pump, it would just interrupt the voltage signal from the oil pressure sender/switch to the PCM and the PCM wouldn't see any oil pressure

The answer im looking for…

Ā

so its safe to correctly wire it to the oil pump pressure wire…

thx

You can put it there but will it do what you want it to do there?
.
Let's take a look at what you're proposing to do on your Yaris
.

.
Last month I suggested that you start the engine and then disconnect the electrical connector on the oil pressure switch to see if that will actually shutdown the engine
.
Have you done that yet? Until you determine that creating an open in that circuit will shutdown your engine I don't see any point in thinking about cutting the wire and installing the relay there.
.
The question you need answered is: When the ECM sees that the oil pressure switch is open, while receiving a voltage signal from the Crankshaft Position Sensor that the engine is running, will it shutdown the engine?
.
This is your 1st step. Do yourself a favor and before you start cutting wires, figure this out

Thx for replying .. I’ll try that .. but don’t know the plug location or oil sensor is on toyota cars in general… clues? Engine 2NZ-FE…
Or can i try that by unplugging a fuse?

The ā€œinstructionā€ suggest

installing a relay

In the middle of the oil pump wiring

Ā

But I would like to avoid that for safety in favor of not having the engine running even slightly.. while the oil pump is disabled…

Ā

& thx to the response on it could be dangerous…

Ā

but that wasnt the question 😁

Ā

who ever suggested fuel pumpĀ

… will it be the safest to disable.. without damaging the engine?Ā

& im no expert, but .. is there certain relay size/volt value

.. that can handle the job & gas pump voltageĀ

They are mechanical

Whats this wiring for then:

I have no idea. Pressure switch maybe.

Anyone knows whats that?

Maybe post the brand name and model number of that tracking unit you are installing as well as the year and trim level of your Yaris so we can see what you're dealing with?
.
The only reason that relay's Load Side terminals would be wired into the Oil Pressure sender/switch is if your Yaris had a Low Oil Pressure shutdown feature. It would not disable the oil pump, it would just interrupt the voltage signal from the oil pressure sender/switch to the PCM and the PCM wouldn't see any oil pressure
.
But I don't think your Yaris has a low oil pressure/level shutdown feature
.
That's more common in small engines and some motorcycles

Aloha…

some cars have a wire

connected to the oil pump

& some even have a feature to even switch off the engine…

Ā

incase that wire was cut…

Ā

will it instantly shut off the car?

Ā

& surely it won’t damage the engine .. since the oil pump is mechanical…?

All this for a Yaris ? Is it really worth it? Is everybody after your Yaris?

Will not everybody farts $s…
& i like the car .. does its thing for years with 3drivers & rough driving…
& mainly its fun to have it as a side project that u upgrade over time & modernize it…

in a none ricing way…

like from under the skin Only…

plus its my first(new) car that i paid for with my salary & I appreciate every penny I spend…

PLUS
There have been car steeling reports around every now and then…
