How long will my new Kia electric vehicle last?

I made the decision to sell my aging Mercedes-Benz and get a brand new car.

Mercedes-Benz C 350 CDI (diesel), 2009, automatic, with about 184, 000 miles on it.

I bought this vehicle seven years ago from the original owner and haven´t had any major problems with it. However, the thought of impending costly repairs made me think twice about keeping it for a few years more.

Get this, I actually purchased an electric car. I live in the Czech Republic and commute 35 miles each way to work (highway driving). At my job, we have charging stations for electric cars, so it´s very convenient for me - my car is fully charged when I go home.

I plan to keep this car for maybe 6-7 years and then look for something else.

What do you think of it? Will I be satisfied? It will be delivered next week, I can´t wait.

It´s a Kia made in South Korea, EV6 battery electric vehicle, 320 hp, 77,4 kWh, 4WD, 7 year warranty, regardless of miles.

328 miles of range.

Thanks,

Diana

I wouldn't be surprised if the Kia broke down before you finish paying for it.  6-7 years ownership with this maker would be a Guinness world record.

PS - Their warranty is a joke.

Should be OK in your situation since you do not have a really long commute and you'll only be keeping it while the warranty is in effect. Bear in mind the advertised range is under their ideal conditions with a fresh battery, but it sounds like you have plenty of cushion in there for the real world. (For people who drive long distances or plan to keep vehicles over 10 years electrics are not a good choice.)

Kia quality in the U.S. is in the toilet, but we don't know how long their European specification electric models are going to last. There's not enough experience with them yet.

It’s all new and it’s anyone’s guess how it will fare.  But given the Hyundai Motor Group’s poor track record with their ICE cars, I would not hold my breath on their all-new EVs holding up.

Not a good history at all.
