Scotty-I wish I would have found your videos sooner…need a little advice.

I bought a 2015 Chevy Sonic LTZ Turbo with approximately 65,000 miles on it.  I found your channel on YouTube two days later.  Now I think I should have bought a Toyota 😆 That being said, any advice on how to keep it running well (inexpensively) ? Anything to look out for?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your answers. Since I haven’t had the car that long I’ll have to wait to do a trade or sell it.
In the mean time I’ll keep my fingers crossed 😕

Those are light-duty, disposable vehicles.

All you can do really is change oil and filter every 5000 miles (use full synthetic oil with the turbo), change transmission fluid every 40K-50K miles, and otherwise follow the maintenance schedule. Don't beat on it and hope it holds together for a while.

You could also explore the possibility of getting rid of it. With used car prices being high you should be able to get good money for it, but of course the problem is you'll also have to pay more than you would in normal times for a Toyota or Honda to replace.

Thank you 😊 I’ll take note of that.

Sell it as soon as you can and get something decent.

Thank you.

Depending on how much you can get for it (get quotes from places like Carvana etc.) and how much you can afford, I would say sell it and get something else (preferably Toyota or Honda). If you can afford a new Honda or Toyota then that would be the best scenario.

Thank you.

If you can find a good one, trade it for a Honda Fit.

I haven’t had the car that long, so, damn. I’ll have to wait awhile before I can do a trade…
Thank you.

All the best.

Not long ago in a land very nearby there were throwaway cars like the lynx, escort, 4cyl mustang, chevette, any chrysler k-car....the list goes on & on.

Sadly you found the modern equivalent which has made a resurgence.

Honestly I'm surprised that you made it to seven. If you can sell it to a teen for a first car (short supply these days) & get out of that thing, go for it.

Thank you for your suggestions.

For what it's worth I have a '13 Chevy Spark 1.2L 5 speed I bought used 3 years ago. I use it as a daily driver and it has proven to be reliable so far. I have 101,000 miles on it and the only issues have been wheel bearings. I put a pair of cheap china wheel bearings on and they failed quickly so I used good ones after that. Just keep the oil/filter changed every 5000 miles and follow the owner's manual for all scheduled maintenance. Probably want to trade it in or sell it when it's financially feasible for you.

To be honest, I really like my Spark. 40 mpg and I drive it like I stole it. Best $2500 I ever spent.
