[Solved] Short grind after accelerating even in manual shift

I have a 2016 Buick Verano Sport Touring that will make this quick grind noise shortly after acceleration. It will only do it one time during the drive usually after the car has come out if park. For example, it has never made that noise after sitting at a stop light or stop sign but if I were to put it in park and but it back in drive it will make that grind after accelerating. It usually does it after shifting into 2nd gear (to give a time frame) but even when I put it into the manual gear selection and refuse to shift it will still make that quick grind noise shortly after coming from park and accelerating even when the car is staying in first gear and the rpm's are staying the same. I can feel it the vibration slightly I'm the gas pedal though when it makes that noise. I have no clue what it is

Mileage? Can you please make a YouTube video of the noise and post the link here?

52,000 miles, I'm not sure if it loud enough to be heard by like a phone or something. I would need some special mics under the car or something.

That was an odd one.

First check the fluid level, then run a scan for transmission codes. It's almost like a solenoid on the way out momentarily engaging then backing off.

I looked up "common issues" for that car & sure enough a grind under acceleration is one of the first on the list. In addition to checking fluid/codes, you want to go to the NTHSA site & punch in your VIN.

I also checked for TSB's & it says there's an issue with the traction control/abs making a "groan" along with some tranny & shaft noises. There's a few hundred of them so I was trying to scan through the basic description fast & may have missed one or two.

This is more of a long shot, but calling a Buick dealer & asking to speak to someone about a possible TSB (technical service bulletin) for the transmission and/or traction control.

If they put you through to a tech or a service manager, say you work over at "Scotty's" (first shop I worked at back in high school oddly enough😄)& you're trying to diagnose that vehicle. Describe exactly what happened along with any codes & ask what their usual remedy is, be it a software update or a part(s) recall, etc.

Thank you so much for your research and help. I'll look into with the information given.

Are you sure it's a grind & not a rattle?

If you want the phone mic or handheld camera to pick up the noise over the wind, put a cotton ball over it then scotch tape it on (put the tape in a cross or x shape). The sound will filter through the cotton unaffected by the tape.

That works exactly the same as a "dead cat" you see on pro-mics, I use that at concerts to stop distortion via the overpressure on the diaphragm which makes it flutter at 120db. Also make sure noise cancelling is off.

Also you can place the phone on the floor & the vibrations will get picked up by the mic, you just have to say at what time stamp it occurs.

https://vimeo.com/696947201 - It happens around 23 seconds. I'm backing out of my driveway so there's a little extra noise in the beginning. Again, I made sure to put it in the manual shift so you can hear I don't let it shift until a little after the noise happens.

I'm unfamiliar at all with your car or what transmission it has, but it sounds like a GM M32 transmission going out.
