Hey everyone, I got a 2014 Chevy Cruze, 1.8L NA i4 with 181k miles, I’ve never replaced the starter or alternator, and I did replace the battery a little over a year ago, my car dash is saying the the battery is 15v.
I want to to kno should I be concerned about that or not?
The battery is at least, 1.5 yrs old. The car starts without hesitation every time.
A little high (normal alternator output is 13.5v-14.5v) but the dash gauge may not be accurate. Measure the voltage directly at the battery terminals with the engine running.
Maybe the dash reading round the 14.5 to 15. {black}:sweaty: {black}:sweaty:
Yeah, it's a Chevy after all!
{pear}
15 seems high, but someone said thats within spec. i think batteries arent supposed to take 14.7V, it can damage the battery. Was it always like this?
Depends on stage of charge. They can take it during bulk charge
Well when I first bought the battery and installed it, the car was reading at about 13.9v to 14.2v. It pretty much stayed around that.
I just remembered that I had to also replace the negative battery terminal and properly ground the battery. But other than that, nothing outta the ordinary other than slightly high voltage.
Also, this Saturday I’m going to take the car an get the battery, alternator, and starter checked at Autozone.
