Should I buy a Mazda?

My mother and I need a car, we had a Corolla that was moved to my brother and wife and now we are looking for something similar, we travel mostly in the city but do not fall out of the corolla's category, and because our pockets are not deep, they do not rise from it.

As for the fuel consumption it will be pretty much the same as the Corolla I suppose it is tolerable, my mother is quite happy with the Corolla's fuel consumption, and is reluctant to use the term "2.0L engine" because she remembers the 2.0L engine we had in a Honda Accord 98 '... and thinks it's a drinker Fuel with certificates, needless to say im not american and fuel isnt free here.

I was also thinking of a hybrid car like the Auris Hatchback but following a very sparse ride (8-9 thousand km a year for both of us), the matter got off the ground.

My concerns about the Mazda include the maintenance costs relative to the Corolla (huge tires, dual-cost START & STOP battery) and reliability.

I work as a driver and drive a lot of Mazda (6,3,2, CX-30), really love their niche, design and driving.

the new ones drive wonderful mostly without claims, but at a mileage of 80,90,100,000 km I noticed things like gear bumping  and jerking during shifts, an engine that at first cold start makes quite a lot of noise, even like of diesel engine knocks (perhaps because of the high compression ratio).

And I wanted to know if there are any Mazda owners who can shed some light on the matter, reliability, routine maintenance, fuel consumption, and once and for all should I change gear oil to Mazda on a regular basis ???

I know that SKYACTIV boxes have a ''life long'' oil, does the manufacturer recommend a replacement?

can it be most of these problems i see are due to these cars being rental cars and leased cars

Which Mazda models are you looking at, in particular?

mazda 3 2014-2018 2.0L 165 hp automatic 6 speed sedan

I'm not a Mazda fan. Although it's a newer one, have a mechanic look it over, do some research, take it for a test drive and do a pressure test on the vehicle.
