Hello, I have a 2016 Acura ILX A-Spec with 79,000 miles. I’m the 2nd owner, clean title, clean car, and I don’t think the transmission fluid has ever been changed. I believe Acura recommends every 35,000 miles to change the transmission fluid. Do I risk damaging the transmission if I have the dealer change the fluid? I’m worried about slippage or anything adverse happening. I want this car to last me forever, like over 200,000 miles. I’m like Scotty in the sense that I’m cheap when it comes to cars. I won’t buy another unless i have to and even then, it’ll be for super cheap.I only bought this one because I got it for less than half the market value.
As long as the dealer changes the fluid correctly (quantity) & uses the correct Honda fluid, you should be fine.
Or you can watch Scotty’s video on how to change your own ATF.
Before you change it, you might want to have a browse of this thread to strengthen your knowledge about automatic transmission fluid change -

@79,000 mi an Acura transmission should not be worn out , so changing the fluid + filter would not be an issue. I presume you're not experiencing any shifting issues presently.
What Inthrustwetrust said,
You should get it changed (drain+fill not a flush) by a proffesional mechanic or a dealer as long as they use the correct fluid like said above.
You should change it with the 30-40k mile interval from now on because the 8 speed automatics are complex and somewhat weak.
