Hey first time question and post here. Love the channel. I own a 2010 chevy impala LS. Near the end of last summer 2020 I was driving along when suddenly the plastic grate that covers the vent on the top of the dash were the defroster vent is suddenly broke. No pieces went down the vent so figure yeah, its just my luck but no harm and went about my day. Fast forward had not been driving the car much had been driving another car. A few days ago went to start it up, open the door and I was hit with a smell like no other!!!!. I mean it, I was a cop , and EMT I smelt everything u could imagine and never like this!!!! This stink could gag a maggot! So I took a deep breath and figured ok turn the air on, when I did just made the smell worse, so being a genius I turned the air on full. The dash started making a thud thud thud sound and vibrating like a jackhammer!!! So what the hell is going on and what do I do??????????? SOS SOS
First of all, thank you for the laughs.
Second of all, seems like there’s something living & growing inside your dash. I’d also check & definitely replace the cabin air filter.
Try this & report back with the results -
Thanks will try that right away!!! but not sure abotu turning it on high it vibrates like crazy! almsot like somthing is being hit or broken. I dont want to be that guy u get stuck behind at a red light with 50 pine tree air fresheners hanging on his mirror!!
It’s possible that there’s foreign object debris in your blower motor which is causing the vibration. You may also want to remove & check your blower motor.
Hahahahaha sorry but the mental image is hilarious! Can you make a YouTube video of the noise & paste the link here?
yeah i will make one and post it. Oh Wait a video of the vibration or 50 pine tree air fresheners? HA lol just joking yeah i will post
Hahaha
Got a engian cam from walmart and found somthing dead maybe and heres a video of the most funny and same time crazy sound on earth!
Yeah something is interfering with the blower motor operation. You’ll have to get to the cabin air filter first & then move on to the blower motor.
Thanks! was thinking of taking to the GM dealership lack of experiance here on my part!
You might be better off having it looked at by a good independent mechanic in your area. Ask around for recommendations. But if the dealer is your only option, go ahead.
