Hello Scotty.
Thank you for awesome content on YouTube. I have a problem with my car that is bugging me a lot. I bought a car at car auction, 2015 Civic Si coupe. It had little damage to quarter panel and blown side and curtain airbags. Everything was replaced with good used parts. My SRS module has been repaired along with driver seat belt tensioner.
from time to time I get SRS light on dashboard that comes intermittently. I troubleshoot the issue but still have doubts if I’m right. I learned that my passenger seat has weight sensor and position sensor, which I believe should be calibrated after any collision or even if seats were removed from the car. I noticed that SRS light come if after I move the seats back and forth or when place weight on passenger seat before starting the car. Last week I had the weight sensor calibrated but the SRS light still showed after few days, I wonder if it was done properly.
I also think that it could possibly by electrical/broken wire connection/circuit. But I checked all the wires, fuses, connections, etc. I scanned for DTCs with OBDII and got these results: U1281, U0151, 53-31, 76-61, 53-42, 61-11, 43-20, 44-20, B2, and others.
The frustrating part is that each time I scan it given different code. But when there’s no SRS light, it shows no DTCs.
Im just lost and don’t know what else to do. Million times I checked the under seat connection for corrosion, foreign objects, etc; I spent countless hours online on forums researching about this.
Please help if you know anything about this, or if you have any suggestions, I greatly appreciate your input. Thanks in advance. God bless.
Anytime you are dealing with a car that has been hit hard enough to trigger the airbags, you have the opportunity to have SO. MANY. PROBLEMS. This is one reason why I always say NEVER buy a car with a salvage/rebuilt title.
Odds are you have an electrical short somewhere and finding exactly where is going to be exceedingly difficult because you never know what wiring looms have been pinched in the crash, what actual wiring may be broken or crimped. It's going to just be a process of trial and error if you want to repair it.
