Hey Scotty,
I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 gt with 197k miles. I'm at least the third owner and the owners before me kept the service logs impeccably on the vehicle. I have an affinity for the G6's. This is my third one and I finally got my hard top convertible. That being said, everything BUT the engine and tranny is going bad. Wiring issues keep the trunk from functioning properly when the roof is in normal position. (Display notice of the Top Not Secure is constant, but the roof is 100% secure) Multifunctional switch, driver's side electronic seat adjuster intermittingly works as designed, a.c. compressor is dead, dome lights need replaced from theft that broke them out, there's a suspension issue and its tie rods are nearly ready to be replaced along with brakes, and lastly the side flaps inside, over the trunk area, covering the trunk space from behind the back seats that flip up and in during roof conversion won't retract, so the roof won't move into converted position without acting like it will break those both off. (They're cheap plastic molded side flaps covering the trunk space from inside the car behind the head area of back seat passengers...this irks me more than all the other repairs combined!) I've been looking at a new used car but I'm not sure, should I repair all these things for my G6 which I'm positive will go well into 200k miles if I do, or is the list too extensive? A little newer with all these issues behind me and a payment? I'm thinking another GM, a Mazda or Toyota if so...Help? Please?
Thanks a million,
Dawn
Did you scan the vehicle for any codes? What's going on with the engine and transmission?
Engine and tranny are fine.
My bad. I thought you said that the engine and transmission were having issues. Here's what you should do:
Calculate the expenses of the issues that need to replaced on your car. Go to an independent mechanic that specializes in GM vehicles. If the expenses of your car are less than $1500, keep the car.
Fair enough...thank you!!!
