My electric power steering motor went out on my explorer and i took it to my local dealership to get it fixed.  im working on my vehicle being at that dealership for 3 months because the replacement steering rack is on back order and no one can tell me or the dealership when it could possibly be in.  Is it worth it for me to get a remanufactured steering rack (it has the electric power steering motor built to it) and just take it to another mechanic and get them to put it on??  I already know it will be a bit cheaper, but i was worried about the reliability of a remanufactured power steering rack.  The one i am currently looking at online is a Duralo Premium brand steering rack and pinion.
