Scotty I have a 2006 Buick Lacrosse 3.8L with 58,000 miles on it. I was using conventional Quaker state 5W-30 it would use a quart every 1000 miles. Just switched to conventional Castrol GTX 5W-30 I've driven it 4000 miles and its only used 3/4 of a quart. The car doesn't leak so why does it burn one oil and not the other?

Someone else has asked similar question on this forum. I would say it might be due to the different additives in the oils or maybe your car likes the Quaker oil better.
