Is this normal in my 2005 Subaru Outback?

I recently bought a 2005 Subarau Outback Impreza Sport. The car runs great, I can almost say I'm in love with it. I do not however have a ton of familiarty with the rear differential in this vehicle. So when I turn sharp at lower speeds this car shudders. This seems to be coming from the back end, and generally eases when I turn at higher speeds. The person who sold it to me had his uncle rebuilt the diff which scares me because its a hard repair for seasoned mechanics. When I asked him about this one issue he respnded with this

"That's the diff working it's not broken. The diff in an awd car, especially Subarus WRX awd system, will always do that if you're not moving an turn sharp. Dad had a van at his shop that did the same thing. It's just an aggressive locking diff. Just get a little speed before turning. And make wide slow speed turns."

I'm wondering should I be concerned or is this normal.

Well of course it's not normal I've driven ones that don't do that I would be very suspect of a guy who rebuilt one of those differentials I know machine shops that won't even touch those things

What do you recomend? Should it be rebuilt? or am I screwed?

I've never heard of that symptom being "normal" on any vehicle. Possibly the wrong lube was used? Might be worth draining and putting in the factory lube for limited-slip. Other than that if it's really bad, maybe install a low-mileage used replacement from a junkyard.

Differentials are really, really tough to get right and one "rebuilt" by some random person's uncle would be suspect unless said uncle is known to be a differential expert.
