I have a 1998 model Tacoma with the 3.4l V6 with an automatic transmission.
It is a garage queen. Only 111,500 miles on it. I travel for work most of the time and like to ride motor bikes when I'm home.
I recently have been noticing engine oil in the drip pan. The oil is mainly near the transmission housing. I searched on You tube and I think my main seal is starting to go bad.
I saw a post talking about using this "Blue Devil Rear Main Seal Stop" and it seamed to work in the couple of post I saw. This product is added to the oil.
Are you familiar with it? Would you use it?
Thanks, Love the channel
I use AT205. but if it's lost pieces nothing works.
I was just looking on You tube and noticed someone else doing the same. I had purchased a couple bottles as Scotty mentioned using it on suspension bushings and seals. I didn't realize that you could put it in the engine. I suppose it's worth a try. I think the volume of oil lost is minimal. If it wasn't for the drip pan I wouldn't have noticed it. It hasn't shown up on the dip stick yet.
Sounds like replacing the seal is going to be a real pain. That's beyond my comfort level and shop capabilities. I was a little disappointed to have it going out with so few miles for a Toyota but it is getting old. Cheers
Fix it but don't use a Toyota seal, they're garbage.
