[Solved] Thoughts on the (2020) Hyundai Kona?

I'm looking for a subcompact SUV. I like Hondas, Toyotas, and Subarus. However, the Honda and Toyota subcompact SUV's seem to have a lot of issues. I'm also having a very difficult time finding availability in my area with the current car market. So I'm thinking of branching out to other companies such as Hyundai since their Kona in particular seems to be highly rated. Maybe the Kona is an exception from Hyundai's cars?

What are your thoughts or advice when it comes to getting a Kona or subcompact SUV?

Looks like Scotty likes the Kona electric, but I'm curious about thoughts for the Kona (not all-electric).

Thanks!

Most powertrains on that thing are disastrous - like actually horrible to the point of drivability concerns.

The 2.0 MPi mated to the 6 speed automatic is not a bad powertrain, it's not a bad combination.

BUT at it's price, it's about the same to get a Subaru XV or a Corolla Cross or a CH-R so why bother.

the Kona electric

The EV versions have a tendency to spontaneously combust into flames due to faulty "LG chem" made batteries.

It was discontinued, as I see it, at least partially because they just have developed a name for catching fire.

Such as?

If you think that’s bad, stay away from all Hyundai Motor Group products.  At this time, we cannot recommend any of their products.
