Hello Mr. Scotty, My wife has a 2014Mazda Cx9 Sport 3.7L Vin # w/ letter V. It has 99988 miles on it. She started the car and about in less than a minute the car went into "limp mode" Very low idle and no response /acceleration from gas pedal.
Prior to this the car while driving suddenly loss power, was able to restart after sitting for 10-15 minutes. Did that a second time , restarted it and engine was spurting, put dry gas in it then was fine. 3rd time car was parked listing to radio with engine in on position then died. After that put in new battery and new alternator.
After that 1 month goes by and now I am having the car in limp mode. Put obd2 reader on it and code P2111 came up. Throttle Actuator control system stuck open. Disconnect car battery , unplug sensor at throttle body and cleaned TB with appropriate cleaner (TB was pretty clean frontside and backside a little carbon on the back side and on edge of plate. Reassembled not changing rubber gasket on TB. Hooked up connections and hooked up battery
I think I reprogram the idle right ,turned key to on position waited 10 seconds, turned key off, did procedure again, third time turn key to on position pressed accelerator to floor slowly and released slowing, turned to off position waited 5-10 seconds put key in and started car. Car started and had high RPM around 2100-2300 about 2 minutes later, car idle down into "limp mode". Check engine light came on also the wrench light came on. Rescan with OBD2 scanner and code P2112 came up. Throttle Actuator control system stuck in closed position. Did I reprogram vehicle computer wrong? Do I need a new Throttle Body? If so what is the torque to the 4 bolts to the throttle body? Can I just only buy the TPS/ Actuator for this TB? I know that the Accelerator Pedal Sensor is operation correctly according to Scan tool.
Thank you so much for taking time to read this email. Also I think you are a great mechanic and I like your videos.
Sincerely, Gerard Chadwick (NY)
Well any problem in that system can trip that code you may need a new throttle. But wiring failure or computer driver circuit from the main computer could also cause the same code. Rather than guessing you might want to try to find a guy like me with a high-level scan tool to do bi-directional test me to tell you if it's the computer or at the throttle assembly or the wiring
I have had this same problem with my current 2014 cx9. EXACT situation. My occurences happened about 9 months ago, and then again 2 weeks ago, and again 1 week ago. After limo mode and several restarts, I believe the TB system reprograms and car seems to run fine. Even the check engine light erases with an ob2 and stays off.
the body shop isnt able to diagnose because after thr instances of limo mode, the problem essentially seems to have been corrected, even tho the checj engine light is on with the p2111 and p2112 (tb actuator stuck open and closed codes).
they want me to bring it in while the limo mode problem exists
now my problem is thta basically means i have to have it fail while driving again, to tow and be abke to show the active problem. Which is completely dangerous
original poster, did you find any resolution to this? This is the onlynpost i could find on the internet for this particulat issue
original poster, did you find any resolution to this?
The topic you are responding to is over 3 years old. The original poster has not been active here since then so you are unlikely to get a response from him.
It would be better to post your own topic giving all vehicle details, a clear and concise description of the problem, and the diagnostic steps that have been taken so far.
