Should I trust my mechanic

Hello,

I have a 2016 Lexus RX 350 with 53k miles.

My mechanic said there was no oil leak/seepage from the timing chain cover. He only performed a visual inspection (took off the wheels and inspected it from the bottom).

To be 100% sure, should I test for an oil leak/seepage from the timing chain cover using a dye? Or should I just trust his visual inspection?

The leak dye test is the gold standard for finding leaks.

I'm confused. What do you want test? The mechanic said there's no leak. Do you see a leak?

I still want to test because visual inspections might not be comprehensive enough to discover the leak (I myself do not see leaks/seepage). Also, my powertrain warranty is ending soon, so any leaks found before then will be repaired for free.

Why are you searching for a leak you don't have?

If there is no leak to be seen then due will not tell you anything? Due is only used to isolate the origin of a leak you can see by eye to tell exactly where it’s coming from?

When you take it to the dealer, be prepared to take it in the shorts too.  Taking it to a dealer is like giving ammunition to the guy holding a gun to your head.
