Hi there Scotty love your videos they are very helpful l. Now I got  a big question. I got a 2011 Volkswagen passat and it uses way way to much oil and i mean 12 liters of oil a month and that is when I'm lucky. Now the dealership i bought it from has checked it and said there is no problem with the car. But yet the car still using that much oil and it costs me a lot of money. Can you help or know what could be the problem here? Im all the way from  Australia.

Thank you in advance.

Mate, the problem is that vehicle is an over engineered pile of junk, built with cheaply made parts.

Do you have any sort of warranty on the car?

Can you take it up with the ACCC?

It's not under warranty anymore, when it was i took it back many times and yet they still came back to me with there is no problem with the car. Using that much oil there has to be a problem with it. What's the ACCC?

I thought the ACCC dealt with matters of lemon cars & then like. I may be mistaken then.

How quickly can you sell the car?

I’m afraid without any warranty, the dealer & VW aren’t going to care about your troubles, and will wash their hands off you.

Can you take it up with the ACCC? Yes you can and you will most likely win! Just do it, …

You go, Australia!

F.S., … from Canada

Thanks for that, Sreudian Flip!

I could try to sell the car but im sure no one would want it with this problem. I still have 3 years to pay the car off before i can sell it i think. I think i will contact the accc and see what they make of it.

Do you have another good mechanic you can take it to for a second opinion?

No way using that much oil is normal. There is something going on.

@mod_man
I dont know much about cars or anything but they told me i can only bring the car to the dealership and no where else. Do you know john huges? the car dealer thats where i got the car from.

PCV valve? That's a lot of oil.

Check to see if your PCV valve is stuck open as that can cause an engine to consume oil.

Have a trusted mechanic do a dry & wet compression test on your engine (Scotty has a video on this) to see how badly the piston rings are worn . That way you will know if it's worth fixing or selling the car.

If you must keep the car, install an Oil Catch Can. That will reclaim some of the oil before it gets burnt in the engine. I have one on my Forester; it's easy to install and works great. You can pick one up on Amazon for around $40.

Hopefully it's something simple.

Good luck brother!
