Torque Wrench

I recently let someone borrow my torque wrench. Despite the fact that I specifically told him to dial it back down afterwards he did not do so, so it ended up sitting at 120lbs for who knows how long. Is my torque wrench still good or is it ruined now?

If in doubt about its accuracy see if you can borrow another and then test yours. Torque down some lugnuts to 100 lbs and see if your clicks to that point to match the other if the other one is accurate as well.    You get the idea....

if it's a quality wrench then it should be fine.

I've never heard of a torque wrench going bad from not resetting it back to zero when it's done being used. I'm sure yours is good.

Op is sayin that the torque wrench was not set to zero after usage and does not know how long it was at a much higher setting when he recieved it back. All torque wrench manufacturers require that the you zero the torque setting to keep the calibration as accurate as possible.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I learned something new today 🙂
