Total transmission failure f350?

Hello, btw so excited to find this site, love Scotty’s videos.

My 2014 F350 6.7l diesel 4wd 175,000 miles 6 speed 6R140 automatic transmission was driving (pulling 6k lbs btw) and all of a sudden at maybe 30mph the truck just starts decelerating. No clunks or lights. Coast to stop, engine still running. Tried manually shifting, no luck. Zero movement.

towed to shop, they checked fluids, said they were good, so said change transmission. I won’t write how much they quoted so you don’t gag like I did.

It’s almost like the driveshaft broke but of course that would be apparent and sound horrible. Any thoughts on what this could be? I just want to be like that guy in your transmission video who changed the transmission and it was an $80 part. Thanks!

At 175,000 miles the transmission should have been serviced at least two or three times by now, maybe more if specified for severe service. Was that done? Did the shop check transmission operation with a scan tool to look for the actual fault?
