Can u safely tow a 6000 lb trailer on a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder with a CVT and drive 500 mile trip? I heard CVT are not designed for towing heavy but Nissan claims it has towing capacity of 6000 lbs even though it has a CVT.

First off, where did you get the weight of 6k?

Companies that build campers want more people to be able to tow them, so they often will fib a bit on the actual weight. It is likely a good bit heavier. Only weight to tell for sure is have the weight checked at a place that has scales, like cat scales.

Also, if the weight you are looking at is dry weight, it likely will be much heavier than that. Unless you are towing it by yourself, with no water in the camper, or anything else.

Even if the dry weight was accurate, and you were towing it alone with no cargo at all, the weight is more than the weight of your tow vehicle, which can get scary. Your pathfinder weighs a max of about 4600, and that is if you are 4x4. It also has a max tongue weight of 600 lbs, which a 6k lb trailer would likely push to the max, or well over.

Even if the weight of the camper was 4500, you could easily go over 6k with just water and some cargo.

I for sure wouldn't tow one that big, and my GX can do 6500#.

What are the specs on the camper?
