Hello Scotty!

I have a toyota auris 2007 1.4 vvti petrol with 218.000km.

I noticed that my air filter box near the engine is shaking a lot on idle and when i press the gas it smoothes out and I know for a fact that it didn't shake at all 1-2 months ago. 1-2 weeks ago I parked the car on a pavement ( the 2 front wheels where on the pavement and the 2 back ones where on the street, because that's how many of our parking spots are here at my place ) and when I reversed out of the pavement the front half of the car touched the pavement because I accelerated a bit more than it was needed and I heard a relatively painful bang, but when I saw the car it had nothing more than just a scratch under the car. Could this have been the cause of the air filter shaking and if so what can I do to fix it? Is it necessary to take it to a mechanic because here in my place the overcharge for everything and I don't really know if it's anything to worry about. Until now the car has been running great and I haven't seen any difference from the driving part of it at least!

One last question my car also has an error that has something to do with the immobilizer, I can't really remember what it was called exactly. I had it fixed 10 months ago and it didn't appear again for at least 7 months. The problem that the immobilizer is causing is that when i put my key in the ignition sometimes it reads the key and sometimes it doesn't but it happens rarely. If the car doesn't recognise the key the car wont start, it will start cranking but it wont start and i can know when the car recognises the key because when it doesn't the security light inside the car doesn't stop blinking so I will just remove and put again the key and it will recognise it. About this problem 1 mechanic told me that i would cost around 100-400$ and another mechanic told me that fixing it shouldn't cost more than 50-70$! That's all thanks a lot in prior!

Well whenever you hear a large bang that's bad. Something was hit. And with minor cars having everything computerized anything that happens to a sensor or wiring or ground strap can do weird things to a car. If I were you, I'd start by having a guy like me plug in this high level scan tool and see what the dad is to see where the problem areas are rather than just us
