Scotty my 2009 Corolla has 132,000 miles I bought it from a dealer when it had about 100,000 on it. I have no idea if it’s ever had the transmission fluid changed. Should I change it now, or is it too late? The Corolla is an automatic transmission and runs great with no problems shifts smooth and all. It’s an LE model

Go ahead and change it (Drain and refill). Do not flush it though.

Alright, I’m completely new to this so I have one more question. Would you change the filter as well? Also, how many times should I drain and fill to get a good job done? I see people on YouTube doing it twice

Change the filter as well.
Change the fluid once and then change every 60k miles.

I recently bought a 1997 Celica GT convertible with 230,000 miles.  Was unsure if TF had been changed previously, so I removed the drain plug and refilled with same amount.  I saved the old fluid just in case.  Fluid that came out was very dark.  I replaced with the Valvoline Maxlife fully synthetic, you can get a gallon of it at Walmart for $15.  Or pay a bit more and get the Toyota fluid.  I also added some Lucas transmission treatment.  The gear changes previously were a bit vague, they are now concise and as smooth as butter.  Toyota make very good transmissions, especially the older ones.

90% of cars from ‘09 have a dipstick.

if it’s black and burned - there’s something to think about.

If it’s not - replace.

(This whole debate of “replace or not to replace” is about cars without a dipstick or with completely burned oil)
