I have a 2002 Ford escape with around 193,000 miles on it, I plan on driving her from georgia to arizona one way only. Would she make it? There isn't any known issues with her by the way.

If you kept up with the maintenance, and everything checks out on the car, I personally would roll in it for a road trip.

Just anecdotally, I still see those old Escapes all over the place.  And these ones were built in collaboration with Mazda.  It’s built on the Ford CD2 platform which is basically a renamed Mazda GF/GW platform.

Just make sure to have a contingency plan just in case it breaks down.

Thanks this seems more of a logic answer, I heard these suvs can go to 300,000 miles of course being well maintained

I would not do that.

For the curiosity, when was the last time you changed the ATF?

I changed it about 5months ago, why wouldn't you do that?

I'm not understanding why not, I drive her everywhere with no problems

It is a 20 years old Escape with around 200k miles. I personally do not trust it.

So you're going by age? This truck been well maintained my friend got the same one with over 220k miles drives back and forth between states with no problems

I'm going with age, mileage and model. I just said my opinion but at the end of the day, it's your call.

Back in the 1990s I used to drive over half the country in 1960s-vintage cars (about 30 years old at the time). Of course unless something really major went wrong with those you could usually fix them with simple hand tools on the side of the road, and there were times when I did.

Evan an '02 is considerably more complex than those old things. You might want to carry an inexpensive scan tool with you in the event you have experience problems, and consider subscribing to a towing service just in case. (It can make a real difference just knowing who to call if you do break down somewhere unfamiliar.)

Unfortunately, they don't make 'em like they used to.

Would she make it?

Only somebody with eyeballs on the thing can make that assessment. Not random people on the internet with no information.

You need to do a health check for the condition of all critical aspects of the vehicle.
