I bought my first Toyota, a 2020 Toyota Corolla 2 months ago, slightly used. It has 14,000 miles. I noticed yesterday, the rims are starting to flake off. I assume it’s paint coming off. This isn’t right no matter what car you drive at that age and mileage. Is Toyota quality not what it used to be?
got any photos?
I can send photo. How do you do that on this site?
Upload it to imgur or postimages & paste the link here.
I dug deeper. This Toyota is used and turns out someone painted the rims, so it’s not a Toyota factory defect. Can a moderator delete this entire subject posting for me? Thanks
marked as solved
Per the OP's last post above, somebody "curbed" the wheels, and painted them to cover the damage. To my knowledge, no manufacturer paints their aluminum wheels - clear coat, maybe. Something to watch out for with used cars, like Bondo and home-made electrical alterations.
Unfortunately, Toyota quality, as other car brands, are not as before.
No manufacturer makes cars to the same degree of quality as the cars of the 90s. Having said that Toyota is still probably the highest quality. If you aren't satisfied with the quality of the paint on the rims then make a warranty claim.
Slightly used is still used. Ya sure someone didn't just Rust-Oleum them before you? Lol. Since it is low miles, you should be able to get away with a warrenty claim.
