Toyota Sequoia MPG computer reading inaccuracy

Hi Scotty, watch all your videos every day. Big fan.

I have an '02 Sequoia with the correct tire size, but the overhead computer shows 15.4 mpg when the vehicle gets 12.8. It is computed each tank and the computer is reset each tank. It is consistently off by 15-20% over about 2k mi.

Tire size is correct, and the vehicle speedometer matches the GPS' reported speed. Why is this? Does the computer assume a flow rate of gasoline which the engine does not receive?

It is a 20 years old car, I would not trust the computer reading. Now, if you are concerned about the gas mileage, check the live data (especially the fuel trims) and start the diagnosis from there.
