Splitting up my prior post, so feel free to delete that one (I can't figure out how).

What are compatible SAE spec(s) for rubber hose transmission cooler lines?
I saw J1532 listed on the SAE site but the only thing I'm finding is merely 250°F rated ( the area it'll be in will surpass that) & below the listed pressure rating as well. My other worry is internal line chunks breaking off over time, unlike thin metal flakes rubber will make for a real headache.
All I could find locally was SAE J30R7 (I believe that's fuel line) in 5/16", no luck at their online counterparts either. One I did see listed didn't give the spec but was $60/36" which is crazy. On a fixed income so I gotta go with the cheapest correct option.
Rockauto has Gates 27058 hose at $2.16 per foot. It is rated to 275 degrees and 400 psi, don't know if that's enough for you. It's probably going to be tough to find rubber hose that will stand up to higher temperature unless maybe it's braided (more $$$).

Hopefully 275° will cut it, I really should get the truck up to temp then check the area with a laser thermometer but the trans is bone dry currently hence the kinda grabbing in the dark with sae specs.
Do you think the "cloth" type silver spark plug wire shields typically used with headers might work to keep the temps down around the hose or would that work more as an insulation keeping temps in?
Hard to say, never tried anything like that. What might work is if it's feasible to fabricate a metal heat shield (similar to a catalytic converter shield) to protect the hose from direct exposure to the heat source.
I'll give that a try, seeing as how the hard lines have a half shell type steel shield nearby it couldn't hurt.
