Help! I have a used automatic 2014 Honda Civic sedan with about 130,000 miles. I've noticed it's shuddering a bit from low speed to about 30. Should I get an additive or spend tons of money for whatever the oil change places offer? I thought someone said those transmission flushes were not great. I just want to do some preventative maintenance. It's not had any services (that I know of) other than oil changes and regular maintenance. Thank you in advance for your wisdom.
From what I can find online it appears that model's automatic transmission is a CVT and it is the first year the Civic was equipped that way. Per Scotty, Honda's early CVTs are on the weak side.
At that mileage the fluid should have been changed a few times already, so now would be a good time to do a drain and fill procedure. (Additives are generally snake oil and most are not compatible with CVTs.)
