Transmission shift pattern changed

I have a 1991  Ford 5.0 thunderbird. I had the transmission rebuilt at 139000. The transmission shifts fine with no slippage.  The weird thing is now giving the same amount of gas the transmission will shift at 500 to 800 rpms higher than before the rebuild.  Why would this happen and is it considered normal?

I would expect small variations, but 800 seems a like a lot. Good question for your rebuilder.

I agree with the above....check with the builder.  I really don't know a lot about automatic transmissions, but I am thinking it might have a slightly different setup or possibly high performance clutches in it?  Maybe someone who knows a lot more about them can throw in on that.  I'm glad to hear it drives perfectly fine, does it gets up to speed a bit faster now?

Yeah definitely tell your builder about it. Some variance is normal, but once you are over 500rpm in variance it is a good idea to bring it to the attention of the shop. It could be a difference in clutches, etc. but you will want them to tell you that rather than assume it.
