Hey Scotty!, George here from California . I own an old 1990 Lexus LS400 with 180k miles. Recently in the mornings on cold starts the transmission takes forever too get into Drive. My question is do i need a new transmission or new shift solenoids/filter/torque converter??

Could be anything my friend, you’re going to need a scanner to look at the readings.

First of all, it's a 1990. Second, what readings??
Sorry 1990, not sure if data was available on OBD 1

Start by checking the ATF level and condition, change if necessary. Sounds like it slipping.
