Lexus LX570 Transmission slipping

Hey Scotty,

I recently purchased a used 2010 lx570 with 150k miles on it. about a month later, check engine light with differential lock and check ahc light appeared, used the blue driver obd scanner and pulled up p0894 and p2714 codes, took it down to a local mechanic who said I needed a new transmission, I wanted a second opinion and went to a transmission specialist shop who said to just change the transmission fluid (not a flush), to my surprise everything drove smoothly no slip at first, transmission guy said he didn't see any metal shavings in the pan either. Then about a week later it felt like it was slipping again (on a cold day when shifting from park to drive, it will move forward for a sec like a small lunge). I ran the blue driver again now I'm getting a p0894, p2714, and a p0761 code, if I switch out the solenoids, will this fix the issue or am I going to have to she'll out some big$$ for a new remanufactured transmission. Where do you recommend me getting one if I do? I already spent $25k buying this truck. The transmission is model Ab60f 6speed automatic transmission, identical to the tundra and land cruiser transmission. I feel like I keep getting the run around and getting charged with diagnostics charges for something I can already see on the obd scanner.what do I do Scotty, should I sell it and buy another vehicle? The motor is sound, and there is almost no rust on it. It's great for hauling my large family around and I don't know of something similar in quality and price either. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

frustrated father (Joe)

how much did the first guy want for a new transmission?

How much is the quote now to fix the codes?

They said 5k for a manufactured one, called lexus they said 8k for a factory new one...also said it would be 800 for the D solenoid part if I just went to purchase the solenoid itself... I picked up a blur driver obd device and cleard the codes but it comes back once a week. Not sure if it's just the solenoid or if the whole transmission has to go, I do find that in the mornings when I first get started it tends to not want to shift past 3rd or 4th till it warms up then shifts fine but prior it def high revs to 3k rpm before shifting to the next gear, had the transmission fluid changed not flushed and per the machanic, no metal shavings indicated so there's that...

diagnostics means more than just plugging in a scanner. It could mean that they are measuring and testing various things, but if you operate a shop with thousands of dollars worth of equipment (which does more than your bluedriver) then you do have to recover your investment.

Anyway replacing a solenoid is a craps shoot. You have no idea if it will fix the problem. The only sure way to fix the problem is to tear down and diagnose or replace.
