[Solved] Truck Confusion PICK ME PLEASE

What Truck should I potentially buy? I read websites that say fords and dodges are the best truck. Which 1 should I choose if I get a 1-3 year (certified)old 1 which still has all of the high tech and safety features. Budget. 45,000 max. 50,000. I’m also confused about all of the engine choices since I don’t know very much. I want a decent ride to. I think I’m leaning more towards the higher tech Dodge Ram 1500. I want it to last 90,000-110000.6 years ideally. But if it lasts a lot longer I will be happy to keep it until around 170,000 miles.

Don't pay attention to those sites. Dodge and RAM make some of the worst trucks for reliability. The quality on those are awful. I would get a Tacoma/Tundra or even a Frontier or F-150 before I get any Dodge Ram product. You aren't getting more than 100k trouble free miles out of a RAM/Dodge. You might get lucky, but chances are it won't.

Does Scotty think I should I should avoid or buy this car?

This link should bring you to a compilation of Scotty's videos and you can scroll down to his best and worst trucks.

I am buying the doge ram 1500.

Suit yourself man, its your money. I wish you the best of luck.

Well it's your decision but it'll fall out at 80k and then you'd be out of a truck and have to buy another

Well it’s your money, do what you please with it.

If this Ram 1500 is a replacement for your Highlander, I suggest you lease (not buy) it.

All the best.

The Dodge will last to 100,000 miles if you get the V8 and the Ford might as well with the V8, however, I can speak from personal experience from friends that the Ram 1500 and it rides sooooo nice and has a great interior and a great looking exterior. Just don't expect it to last forever. If you want something to last forever go with the Toyota Tundra.

I am buying ram🐱

Ford and Tundra seems to making the better trucks these days. Fords bread and butter is the f150s and super duty trucks so they spend the most time making sure they are fined tuned. Tundra is a great choice as well. I’d stay away from all this turbo charged GDI crap and stick to a good ol V8.

The older F-150s (pre-2018 MY) with the Gen 1 and Gen 2 5.0L V8 and 6-speed AT were better.  The MY2018+ with the Gen 3 5.0L and 10-speed AT - not so much.

I want to add, 1/2 ton options now are definitely gas savers..... until you put a load on em. When you get up to your 3/4 ton gas trucks there is no such thing as fuel economy. This is where the American truck market is going. 10 speeds transmissions and turbo V6s because our government is making it so. Even V8s now are cutting cylinders off to supposedly save on fuel. So yes you can find 1/2 ton trucks now that are actually pretty decent on fuel.

Until you load them down.

And electrification (I.e. hybrid) is next.

@daywalker you’re absolutely right. Unfortunately this is where the American truck market is heading and it sucks. Trucks went from workhorses to pavement queens. Now it’s strong and reliable V8s to hybrid and little bitty turbo V6s
