2000 frontier 3.3
I was driving home and it started to stall
When I pressed on the gas it would stall
Fuel filter or Pump in your opine?
TIA
Problem Solved:
After replacing fuel pump and filter
Spark Plugs and injectors (Plugs were in bad shape)
Distributor (rotor bearings were trashed)
None of which solved my problem
Turned out it was the fuel pressure regulator
Thnx to all who responded
White smoke on startup is water/coolant burning. Sounds like it blew a head gasket. Call Auto Parts store. You can rent or buy a head gasket test kit for about 20-25 bucks.
Could be a dozen different things but if there is no code tripped often the fuel filter or fuel pump is the fault because the computer has no idea what fuel pressure is
Changed the fuel filter (no change)
started and ran but extremely erratic
eventually died
Also noticed white smoke on start up
If the cause is the fuel pump, would it have started at all?
Would a dirty MAF sensor have similar symptoms?
fwiw the fuel that came out of the filter was pretty dirty imo

Which should show up on the oil dipstick?
Ran a scanner on the 3.3

Update:
Changed fuel filter and pump
Replaced fuel injectors and spark plugs (looks like they were never changed)
Tested the distributor for spark (screw driver method)
There is no spark from the distributor
There doesnt appear to be any damage within the cap
Possible bad coil?
Whats next in your opinion?
vehicle has 88k miles

there's a problem in the ignition system. Coil, fuses, ignition switch etc.
Do a proper diagnosis or you'll end up spending a fortune changing parts and still not fix the problem.
Fuse for the ign is good
fuel pump relay=good
ign good at fuel pump relay
Im left feeling the only thing mechanically left is the distributor and camshaft sensor
TIA
