Hi Scotty,
I have a 2004 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi 188,000 and it started out turning off when driving and now when you start it up it turns off and if you try ramping it up it will rave up but turn off. A mechanic came over and said it's giving several codes for catalytic converter. He said it's clogged and needs to be replaced.
Can I try the lacquer tthinner to clean even if the truck won't stay running?

Based on what? Did he measure excessive back pressure?

That will not help if the converter is really clogged.
