Car Novice, learning from Scotty.
I wanted a CRV, but convinced to disregard because of thefts. I live in NYC.
Mazda cx-5 its awd... or Hyundai Tuscon.
Thoughts or opinions.
If you can find a suitable vehicle equipped with one, consider one of today's most effective anti-theft devices...

1- Mazda CX-5 is AWD, Scotty saying AWD not worth it or expensive because of the tires. I did want awd but he has given me 2nd thoughts.
I’m not sure about the CX-5, but some AWD require you to change all the tires if one goes out. At the very least, AWD will require you to replace tires in pairs, if one goes out. Check the manual for the CX-5 specifically, as all cars may vary.
For most purposes 2WD will suffice. But some cases, and for some people, AWD is preferable. If it is just a daily driver on roads and not snowy weather, 2WD. If you are going on minor trails occasionally, or live in more inclimate weather, AWD may*** be better.

2- I did mention theft, I was more talking about thieves stealing my converter or sensors. Thoughts?
You can install a cat shield which may*** deter.

If you are concerned about thefts, consider putting a hidden kill switch in your car.
CRV or CX5. Not the Hyundai/Kia.
Heck, Hyundai/Kia are the easiest ones to steal, since many of them don’t come with the immobilized chip. Maybe the fixed the problem by now.
their "fix" is to tell you to buy a steering wheel lock, which can often be picked with a paperclip. 😆
My father has an elantra, he has something like the club... smh
so 2 more questions on this topic, and thank you you all for your help.

So true. I’ve seen so many Hyundai Kia with those “club” like devices.
