What would you rather have for longevity/reliability: a turbocharged car (eg Honda CRV) or a hybrid car (eg Toyota RAV4)?

Naturally aspirated engine only

The thing that many hybrids have going for them is that there is no starter and no alternator.  Which dramatically simplifies things, at the same time adding a level of complexity with the hybrid system.  Since the hybrid system assists in acceleration and also braking, it puts less stress on both the ICE and the braking system.  So in that sense, there is longevity to be gained.

However, you also have to worry about the hybrid system itself.  The battery will eventually wear out.  I have a Gen 2 Prius, and it took 16 years for the hybrid battery to go out.  So depending on how you define longevity.

The least complex system is a natural aspirated engine.  No turbo. No super charger.  Just all natural aspiration.  This is how I would rank them in terms of longevity.

Naturally Aspirated >>> Hybrid || Turbo || Super
