Hi Scotty and Team!
Happy new year! Hope we have a better one this year than the last.
I'm thinking of getting a used 2017 Mazda CX-9. It has 31,000+km on it. I watched your videos about buying used cars and made these observations.
Firstly, there was a big oil leak on the floor. I checked the dipstick and it was still fill and the oil looked new. Maybe the oil filter wasn't put on properly?
My basic scanner gave one code, P0401(00) EGR System - insufficient flow detected. Is this a serious problem that is expensive to repair?
The car has basically no fuel in it when I checked it. It started up easily though in the first try though.
It had a regular flooded battery. Is this type of car supposed to have an enhanced flooded battery?
There was also rat droppings in the engine area, though this is quite common in the Philippines where I am.
The asking price is lower than comparable Cx-9s on the market. Is this something I should just walk away from or is it worth getting a better deal and repairing everything.
If I'm looking for used cars that are around 3 years old, is there anything I should look out for in particular?
Thanks for your help! Love watching your videos!
Kind regards,
Tim
Sorry auto correct, engine oil was full not fill
Ask a mechanic to check out the car completely, there are some signs that really ned to be investigated more before you even test drive the car.
