[Solved] Using KTuner Software to Disable VCM (Honda/Acura)

Does anyone on this forum have experience using a software called KTuner to disable the cylinder deactivation system (what Honda calls VCM) on Honda/Acura vehicles?

Link is here: http://ktuner.com

Up to this point I didn’t think you could re-tune the ECU via software to disable VCM but only recently found out it can be done.  Before, your only options were to use aftermarket devices such as VCMTuner II, VCM Muzzler II, and S-VCM to keep the VCM turned off, but those were all hardware you had to install.  But turning it off via software seems like the better approach, assuming it works long-term with no issues.

I've never done it but I've met people who have done it and it did a pretty good job as long as they understood how the system worked and how to activate it

I have disablee  vcm  on my accord  with ktuner  using the factory settings   with vcm disable  and  works great.  Done it  last oct  and the response  is awesome. Feels like  a  slingshot

How did you find out about this? I consider myself very good at researching and learning about what’s out there, but this escaped me completely. I guess you learn something new every day.

Sorry  for taking this long  ..I did my homework  before i bought  my accord  v6.  Spent good 3 months  looking for  the best solution .. svcm  or vcm muzzler work  with they trick your computer  to think is at lower temp.. some of them will  turn on your  cooling fan or in  others you have to change a resistor  depending of the enviroment  temperature... ktuner  was the best solution since  it is  disabled from software.. it also gives you more options  to custom tune your car.. but i just went to factory settings with vcm disable..  i am not  a tuner  so  i dont mess  with the rest of it.  You can also reverse  it to  the orginal software..   well worth it.  I have lost some.highway mpg  but it may be like   2  or  3 less... rather loose some mpg  than loosing an engine

Thank you for getting back. It seems the best way to disable it. Do you know long term how it’s been holding up for others? I had a hard time before finding them until you mentioned it, and figured more people would be using it (since it seems the logical solution of the options available).

I have had 0 problems .. 0 oil consumption .. been using it since november of 2020. There are some other users at the accord owners forum and they had same results.. better engine performance since all 6 cylinders are running all the time. Also if there has been a software recall /update from honda ktuner will update theor software and you just have to flash your car computer again. Ktuner is expensive...
