Hey Scotty I'm a high schooler planing to graduate a year early and was thinking of going to uti in that gap year. Do you think it would be worth going to uti as a supplement to an engineer degree (having hands on at uti + theoretical at college).
The things they teach you at UTI can be taught by yourself. YouTube has TONS of videos on all that mechanic stuff (uhm...Scotty's videos). That school is basically for people who want to become a certified mechanic super quick. Trust me, there are many videos out there about UTI being a waste of money (the drifter Aaron Parker, who's part of Donut Media, makes fun of UTI all the time because he taught himself all about cars). You're basically paying for all the "hands-on" stuff. You can do your own hands-on learning at home on your car if you're really passionate about it (like me...I work on all the cars in my family and it's great hands-on learning for me lol).
UTI is not an engineering school, it's just a training school to become a mechanic/technician. Go with the engineering path like me...I'm majoring in Mechanical engineering, which is way more useful in the automotive field AND many other fields. It allows for more options.
I mentioned Donut Media...search them up on YouTube and you'll learn everything about cars.
