Valvoline vs Amsoil

Hey man like many people we love your content! Absolutely the best! I own an 18 Cruze Hatch with 97k miles, had since new. Only issue I've ever had was a faulty injector at 17k miles. I am tuned from BNR and use E15 and my iddy biddy turbo loves it! Just watch a video of your discussing about GDI oil and you mentioned Valvoline modern engine but how do you feel about Amsoil Signature Series? I've been using that along with a Wix XP filter since 20k miles. Should I switch to Valvoline modern engine?

GDI oil, what is that?

change the oil every 5k with manufacturer recommended Synthetic....

clean the valves periodically to prevent carbon buildup, that’s all......

They all have to meet the specifications. You really cant go wrong with any of them. Especially the newer ones that say "API SP" or "ILSAC GF-6". However from what I have heard, Amsoil is a better product. Amsoil's base oil is what they call a "true synthetic". It supposedly is 100% manmade and does not come from refined crude oil and it's said to perform a lot better in terms of lubrication, cold flow ability, heat resistance, etc. Plus, I hear that signature series has more additives than other oils, such as detergents, dispersants, antiwear, etc. It's up to you. They all do a good job. I personally have always used mobil 1 extended performance synthetic and changed at every 5k. Never had any issues.

@alban123
that is utter nonsense. Synthetic is refined crude oil, and Amsoil say that themselves:

Your right they do say that! Yet everybody online is calling it "chemically engineered" and "totally artificial"?! Thanks for pointing out my mistake. Sometimes the internet and the terms that people use can be misleading. I guess then my point would be that Amsoil uses a more refined base oil.

@alban123
I think they just add their own blend of 51 herbs and spices to it. (additives)
