[Solved] Video entertainment screen not working

I have a 2005 Toyota Highlander with 180,000 miles and the video entertainment screen does not turn on. Before I bought the car the screen did work. When you push the release button next to the screen it would slam open. All the buttons around the screen light up so it does have power so what can cause the screen to not turn on?

If it was slamming sounds like it was on the way out & the screen was taking a beating. There's a speed & travel parameter, once the processor/logic board starts to go it does that.

Be happy, less chance of slamming into people without a giant screen distracting you. Get a regular head unit to replace it.

It's an electronic device made 17 years ago, so it can be quite honestly quite a lot of things.

I doubt it has much to do with the car it self, probably just the screen / the computer running it...

I'd check powers and grounds and would consider going aftermarket / getting a used replacement unit - they should be relatively inexpensive (I am unsure how much they're going for these days).

Get a new screen.

If it's slamming, it won't last long. The logic board which has the speed/distance parameters is probably about to give up the ghost, then it's anyone's guess which cooks first, the screen again or the board.

I doubt it's still a thing, but there used to be potentiometers for fine tuning to alleviate that.
