Back in November 2019 I purchased a 2014 VW Passast TDI with 66,000 miles on it. I owned it for 14 months and in that span dealt with 3 heater core failures, an EGR cooler failure, sunroof lines leaking, and then mold damage from the fallout. I was in 3 different loaner vehicles and dealt with VW corporate and asked for the vehicle to be bought back. After fighting with them for 8 months they came to an agreement. VW itself would offer some assistance and the dealership would cover the rest so I would come out of the vehicle clean and free. The issue was for VW to offer assistance I had to purchase a new VW. So reluctantly in January of 2021 I did. I bought a 2021 VW Jetta S. I have now been to the shop three times. The first time the passenger air vents were hot when running the air conditioning. I was told the factory did not add enough freon so they added some in. Not even 3 weeks later the same thing happened. The service department had my vehicle for 2 weeks to determine all the freon was gone but they didn't know where. They ran dye tests, nitrogen tests, and finally concluded the O rings on the high and low side of the compressor were "dirty and worn". At this point the vehicle only has 22,000 miles on it. So they replaced these O rings. Upon picking the vehicle up, while in their care, the vehicle has a very severe door ding up into the window trim molding on the rear passenger side. They told me it probably got damaged in the parking lot. So they are working to fix it. I have been back in contact with corporate VW, the same person, and all they want to do is fix the issues. I have requested a buyback and they will not budge. I have contacted a lawyer who said it has to be the same issue and out of service for 30 days before they would touch it... I have also looked at just trading it but am between $3,000 - $4,000 negative as the car is valued between $18,000 - $19,000. Do I have any other options or what can I do at this point? VW is crap and I wouldn't recommend to anyone!
Sorry to hear your troubles, the good news is, used cars are in high demand. I would try and sell it yourself and get what you can. It is possible you may come out pretty well. My suggestion is stop dealing with dealers, you will always lose.
If a car is this new, try selling it to Carvana, Carmax, or Vroom.
I ran an estimate with Carvana, they offered $18,308. I have heard CarMax is offering even more.
Bro, I am happy I got rid the VW
