Hi Scotty,
Is the 2017 VW 1.4 Jetta equipped with the DSG Gearbox ? Also what are your thoughts about the DGS Gearbox? Is it really problematic one? How to keep it running for long?
Many thanks Scotty
DSG transmissions, especially Volkswagen's, wear out really fast. They are well-known to have issues, and I've personally seen the countless issues myself. They just go through a lot of strain even when they are driven normally; that's just the nature of DSG transmissions. It mimics a manual transmission by utilizing two gear sets (similar to the gear sets in a manual transmission) each with their own electronically-controlled clutch to shift INSANELY fast. They are super fun...only when they are new. I would stay away from them unless you are leasing the car.
The DSG gearbox is a great gearbox, smooth, fast ,but only when it is new. One thing goes wrong with it, and you are screwed. It is a gigantic repair bill for you then!
