Weekend car

I am interested in maybe getting a Mitsubishi 3000gt as a fun weekend car, and eye candy. I've done a fair bit of research about them and realised that they aren't necessarily reliable, and can be a bit of a rats nest to repair (eg: removing the intake manifold to access rear spark plugs)

Can anyone share experience working with the car, or maybe owning it? How expensive are replacement Mitsubishi parts? And kind of a weird offhand question. Would it be difficult/possible to swap a smaller, easier to work on, more reliable engine (B6ZE, 3S-GE, ect) into a 3000gt

It would exclusively be used as a weekend car, so as to extend it's life as long as possible. And I'd be getting the FWD, Non-Turbo model. There is one for sale in my area for less than 4k, and the car is calling to me.

They are a pain to work on and there's not a whole lot of room in the engine bay. Parts are not really super expensive, but they are hard to find.

As for an engine swap, it's not a good idea to change motors. You also have to change a lot of the computer modules and wiring to make it work.

I would pass on it. The headache isn't worth the trouble or the expense.
